Description

I was about 5 years old when a friend from kindergarten told me that her zodiac sign was Mermaid. I didn't know anything about zodiac signs, but I envied her. Because, you see, in my mind that meant that she was able to transform into a mermaid or something. She also told me that his dad looked a lot like my dad and that maybe we were sisters.

As a naive little child, I kept up eating many of her lies that she told me almost daily.

One time she told me that toys were alive. I didn't believe her, because I had many different toys and none of them had never shown a sign of being even slightly able to move. I told her that, but she argued that they were alive only when they were by themselves. She said that my only chance to see them alive would be if I left them alone for at least one hour and then very cautiously peeked into my room.

When I went home, I went to my toys and took a good look at them. All my Barbies and stuffed animals were immobile and looked like... regular toys. I couldn't believe that they were having their own private parties when no one was looking. So I left them alone and went to watch TV. One hour passed and I tiptoed silently and excitedly to my room and held my breath while I slowly opened the door. It was almost dark by then, but I could see that the toys were exactly where I'd left them, unmoving.

The same happened the next day and the day after that. I felt sad and disappointed, but I forgot about it pretty soon.

Few days before the "graduation" this incident came to my mind and I asked my friend if she'd lied to me or did I just suck at discovering toys' secret lives. She looked guilty and confessed that she had indeed made that story up. We made up, but I still felt sad about toys not being alive.

However, these few days had felt really magical. I can still remember my awe and excitement when I was standing behind the door and trying to listen to my dear old toys.

So you can see from where I got inspiration for this picture. :)
